Kathy has a number of fine solo recordings. This is the first with her own band. We had a great time recording it and are very pleased with the results!

This song is dedicated to the spirits of Victor Jara and Phil Ochs

This is a song about avarice and manipulation. Greed and fear have been the hallmarks of the Bush Presidency. Years from now, when our children are paying off the massive debt accrued due to the ineptitude of this man, they will marvel at how we allowed him to become a two term president. Federal spending increased 45% during the first five years of his presidency. He and his administration have borrowed more money from foreign governments and banks than the previous 42 presidents COMBINED! More than 3,500 Americans and more than 100,000 Iraqis are dead as a result of the US invasion and occupation of Iraq - countless more have been physically and mentally wounded. The federal government now spends 7.4 BILLION dollars a DAY. I think George Bush's friends must be very pleased with his tenure in office - Haliburton has made over 6 BILLION dollars from the Iraq fiasco alone. This has been quite a profitable "war" for a few... but very costly for everyone else...

"A good single that emanates with excellent musicianship. This is what Pop should be!" - Tony Bates, Highlands 100.7 FM, Australia

As shallowness is glorified in the media - reaching epic proportions in modern America, I felt the need to comment in song.
It has a good groove too.

It's hard to pick a favorite." - Good Times Magazine

"THE ROAD HOME" may also be purchased from GUITAR9.COM

"The Road Home" is my first solo recording. Musically and lyrically this was a very personal project for me. I followed a strong vision - right down to ideas for the artwork. I was fortunate to work with some very talented musicians. Seven of the ten songs feature Meatloaf drummer John Miceli, with NYC session ace Al Improta on bass. I sang all the lead vocals, including an emotional duet with singer/songwriter Kathy Fleischmann on 'Give Love'. Janine Innamorato & Nicole Mikoleski from the band 'Buddha Box' and Philip DeStefano also provide excellent harmonies on other songs. Rather than do a complete acoustic recording, I wanted to let the songs determine the instrumentation. This allowed me to embrace many of the electric guitar sounds I love and set them loose to color the songs and communicate what couldn't be sung.

"Coloring the Sky" is a combination of vocal and instrumental pieces that Phil DeStefano & I performed in cafes, clubs, and restaurants on Long Island between 1996 & 2000. The improvisational twists and turns of these songs take the listener through jazz, blues, and folk-rock.  Our songwriting at times betrays influences from Lyle Lovett to Pat Metheny, Frank Zappa to The Grateful Dead... all these aspects of our music made their way to the CD.

REVIEWS

From JazzReview.com:
DeStefano & McLeod's COLORING THE SKY is a nice listening entry in the world music genre with its folk and jazz motifs. There are 8 original songs on the CD collection. Some of the selections include "Coloring the Sky," "My Love Reminds Me," "Closer", "Tackedy Boots," "Dreams of Angels." Each song is innovative.

This collection should find many listeners who like the unusual in world music. "Domino Lady" and "To Be Or Not To Be" will charm you with their words, and music.

"If You Insist" and "Tackedy Boots" features both men on instrumentals and showcases their individual talents on guitar and bass. This is a nice acoustic project fully realized. Entertaining.
